Unity-Payson 32, Calhoun 6: The Mustangs churned out 363 yards of offense with Cecil Hunt generating big plays yet again. The senior rushed for 189 yards on 14 carries with touchdown bursts of 65 and 94 yards. Unity-Payson forced seven turnovers with Bryan Dieker recovering three fumbles.

Brown County 48, North Greene 0: The third-ranked Hornets scored 42 points in the first half and rolled in their home opener at the Nest. Colby Wort had three scoring runs, the longest of which went 61 yards, and finished with 116 yards on eight carries. All three of Tate Fullerton’s completions went for touchdowns.

Pittsfield 31, Riverton 21: The Saukees pick up the victory in a game featuring 42 penalties.

Bowling Green 45, Palmyra 0: The Bobcats pile up the most points they’ve ever scored against the Bobcats and beat the Panthers for the first time in program history.

Monroe City 46, Winfield 15: The No. 2-ranked Panthers improve to 2-0.

Highland 61, Missouri Military Academy 0: Robert Goehl returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown and the Cougars scored all of their points in the first half of their home opener.

Women’s Soccer

At Grand Rapids, Mich.

Quincy University 1, Davenport 0: The Hawks’ Sydney Gorman scored when her cross deflected off a defender, hit the crossbar and bounced in the goal in the 88th minute to snare a road victory in the season opener. Olivia Kindt made four saves in goal for the Hawks.

At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.

Culver-Stockton College 1, Avila 0: Kirstin Jannin headed a long pass from Sierra Schlemmer over the head of the Avila keeper for the only goal in the 53rd minutes as the Wildcats improved to 2-1.

Men’s Soccer

At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.

Culver-Stockton College 4, Avila 2: Joaquin Cordoba scored one goal and added an assist, while Gabriel Fernandez tallied two assists as the Wildcats picked up the victory.

Women’s Volleyball

At Nova Southeastern Tournament, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Pittsburg State d. Quincy University: The Gorillas won 25-18, 25-15, 25-23 in the season opener as the Hawks struggled offensively, hitting just .104. Pitt State hit .264. Mattie Norris led the Hawks with 10 kills, while Erica Slinde had 20 assists and America Galvan had 19 digs.

Quincy University d. Stonehill College: The Hawks rebounded with 25-14, 25-12, 25-11 victory in which they hit .474. Mattie Norris had 15 kills and Erica Slinde had 34 assists.

Girls Volleyball

At the Lady Suns Classic, Augusta, Ill.

Central d. Macomb sophomores: The Panthers won 25-22, 17-25, 15-7.

Southeastern d. Payson Seymour: The Suns won 25-8, 25-13 as Taylor Wagner had six kills, Ani Kerr had 12 assists and Abbey McMillen had three aces.
