Quincy University d. Missouri S&T: The fifth-seeded Hawks won their opening-round match in straight sets, eliminating the fourth-seeded Miners in a rematch of last season’s first-round showdown 25-23, 26-24, 25-18. It is the Hawks’ first victory in the conference tournament in more than a decade.

After taking the first set, the Hawks (18-12) found themselves trailing 22-16 in the second set before a sideout and six consecutive points on Emily Rehagen’s serve changed everything. Mattie Norris had three kills in that stretch. The Hawks never trailed in the third set.

Norris led Quincy with 17 kills and two blocks, while Rehagen had 14 kills and 15 digs and setter Makayla Knoblauch finished with 40 assists and 12 digs. The Hawks advance to play top-seeded Lewis at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
