Central 57, Liberty 53: The Panthers limited the Eagles, ranked seventh in the initial Class 1A state poll, to just three points in the first quarter and withstood a 24-point fourth quarter barrage to score the upset. Daxton Wiskirchen led the Panthers with 22 points, while Nick Moore added 13. Breiton Klingele led the Eagles with 16 points.
At Augusta, Ill.
Southeastern 38, Pittsfield 33: A 9-0 run in the third quarter turned a one-point game into a double-digit lead for the Suns, and they made just enough free throws in the final 98 seconds to survive. Cole Glick made 3 of 4 free throws in the final 14 seconds for Southeastern, which went 5 of 10 from the line down the stretch. Ramsey Fry led the Suns with 16 points, while Glick had 13. Carter Klatt led the Saukees with 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Griggsville-Perry 63, Western 38: Tate Kunzeman led the Tornadoes with 30 points, while Mason Smith had 17 for the Wildcats.

Palmyra 55, Canton 48: The Panthers limited the Tigers to eight points in the second quarter to build an 11-point halftime lead and held off a fourth-quarter surge. Bear Bock led the Panthers with 14 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, four blocks and three steals.
At Center, Mo.
Community R-VI 46, Mark Twain 45: The Trojans made a layin with five seconds remaining in regulation to snare the victory. Lukas McCleod and Conner Eckler led the Tigers with 12 points apiece, while Lakoda Preston had 10 points.

Palmyra 63, Canton 44: Sydney Compton scored 22 points in the Panthers’ tuneup for next week’s Monroe City Invitational. Jansen Juette added 13 points for Palmyra, while Clare Williams had 10 points.
Women’s Basketball
At the Student Activity Center, Quincy
John Wood Community College 58, Carl Sandburg College 46: The Trail Blazers allowed just eight points in the first quarter and nine in the fourth quarter to win the first game of their December Classic. Stephanie Anders went 6 of 9 from the field and 4 of 5 from the line to lead the Trail Blazers with 16 points, eight steals and five assists. McKenna Little added 14 points.
