At Ferd Niemann Jr. Memorial Ballfield, Quincy

Quincy Notre Dame 14, Highland 0: The Raiders erupted for 11 runs in the first inning and cruised to their seventh straight victory. Dalton Miller jacked a three-run home run to right field and Tucker Tollerton had a three-run, inside-the-park home run to highlight the opening outburst. Miller finished with two hits and five RBIs, while Evan Kenning tossed a one-hit shutout over five innings.

At Mount Sterling, Ill.

Brown County 10, Unity 0: Mason Henry allowed five hits over five innings and struck out five in tossing the shutout for the Hornets. Colby Wort went 3 for 4 with a double, three runs scored and two RBIs for Brown County, while Gabe Blakeley and Will Groesch had two hits apiece as the Hornets improved to 5-0.

At Pittsfield, Ill.

Pittsfield 6, Winchester West Central 4: The Saukees built a six-run lead before the Cougars out together four runs in the sixth inning, only to have Nate Scranton come in relief and get the final two outs to extinguish the rally. Nolan Daniel and Luke Saxe each went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Saukees (6-1), while TJ Reel struck out eight over 5 ⅓ innings. 

At Liberty, Ill.

Central 9, Liberty 8: The Panthers scored five runs in the sixth inning to snare the lead and held off the Eagles’ seventh-inning rally. Conner Grifin and Ross Riley each drove in two runs for the Panthers, who scored three of the sixth-inning runs on wild pitches. Deege had three hits for the Eagles, who had the bases loaded with no outs in the seventh but hit into a double play and then had a flyout to end the game.

At Beardstown, Ill.

Beardstown 6, Southeastern 4: The Suns trailed 6-0 through five innings, but a rally enabled them to scratch three runs across in the sixth and another in the seventh. Jesse Johnson went 2 for 3 for the Suns, while Aundre Roberts drove in two runs.

At Mount Sterling, Ill.

Brown County 15, Unity 0: The Hornets scored four runs in each of the first two innings to run their winning streak to six straight games. Cyrah Dunlap went 3 for 3 with five RBIs for Brown County, while Klare Flynn went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and four runs scored. Brooke Garthaus also had two hits. Makenna Post struck out three and allowed four hits over four innings for the victory. Ashlynn Arnsman went 2 for 2 for the Mustangs.

At Camp Point, Ill.

Central 17, Liberty 7: After the Eagles scored four times in the third inning to eat into what had been a seven-run deficit, the Panthers responded with eight runs in the fourth. Katie Hildebrand, Macie Reuschel and Carlie Goehl each had two hits for the Panthers, while Hildebrand collected a double and three RBIs and Goehl smacked a triple. Ally Lefringhouse went 3 for 3 for the Eagles and Larissa Neisen went 2 for 3 with two runs scored.

At Porter Stadium, Hannibal, Mo.

Hannibal 2, Columbia Hickman 0: Bella Falconer scored both goals for the Pirates, converting a corner kick from Katie Greening in the first half and finishing an unassisted goal early in the second half. Freshman goalkeeper Ava Turner made seven saves for the Pirates, who improved to 5-2.

At Spartan Park, Chatham, Ill.

Illinois-Springfield 3, Quincy University 0: Scoreless through five innings, the Prairie Stars took advantage of a pair of errors in the sixth inning to score all three runs in the first game of the Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader. The Hawks were limited to three hits with Taylor Downen and Allyson Maynard each doubling.

Illinois-Springfield 6, Quincy University 5: A three-run home run by Allyson Maynard in the top of the seventh pulled the Hawks within a run, but the next three batters made outs to end the rally. Taylor Downen and Maynard both went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, while Madeline Ruzicka had a two-run double. The Hawks are 9-22 overall and 3-11 in the GLVC.

Women’s lacrosse

At Ellison Poulton Stadium, Canton, Mo.

Culver-Stockton College 17, Midland 4: The Wildcats’ McKayla Nevarez tied her single-game school record with seven goals as C-SC won the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference matchup. The Wildcats are 4-5 overall and 3-2 in the KCAC.
