At Soule Bowl, East Moline, Ill.

Kiwanis Invitational: Jettason Rose and the Quincy High School boys showcased their speed in an event featuring all of the Western Big 6 Conference teams. Rose set a personal record and broke the school record in the 100-meter dash in 10.74 seconds, which tied the meet record set in 1979. He also won the 200 dash in 22.29 seconds and received the Merlyn Hood Award for the athlete of the meet. Fiker Rosen took third in the 3,200 run in 9:50.59 and fourth in the 1,600 in 4:44.38. Reid Savage finished third in the 110 hurdles in 16.01 seconds and fourth in the 300 hurdles in 43.91. The relay team of Ethan Reinhardt, Drew Tipton-hicks, Noah Emeka and Rose took second in the 4×100 in 43.93. LaMarrio Rodgers finished second in the shot put with a toss of 14.92 meters and second in the discus with a toss of 41.18 meters.

At Hanson Field, Macomb, Ill.

Lee Calhoun Invitational: Liberty’s Cannen Wolf won the 1,600-meter run in 4:41.72 and 3,200 in 9:55.57, nearly a minute faster than the rest of the field. Illini West;’s Max Dittmer won the 200-meter dash in 23.37 seconds and took second in the 100 dash in 11.60 seconds, while Liberty’s Keegan Sunde was second in the 200 in 23.97 and  fifth in the 100 11.82. Illini West’s Cole Kirkham was second in the 400 dash in 54.43 and third in the 800 in 2:11.54. Brown County’s Kayne Mitchell was third in the 300 hurdles in 49.75.

Illini West won the 4×800 relay in  9:20.89 and was second in the 4×400 in 3:41.57, while Pittsfield took third in the 4×200 in 1:37.32. Liberty’s Tanner Gimm was third in the discus (40.26 meters) and fourth in the shot put (12.35 meters). 

On the girls side, Illini West’s Josie Bryan won the 400 dash in 1:05.20 and was fourth in the 200 in 29.01. She also was third in the long jump in 4.78 meters. Pittsfield’s Ellie Ten Eyck won the 300 hurdles in 49.16 and finished second in the 100 hurdles in 17:53, while the Saukees’ Katie Cox was second in the 300 hurdles in 54.27 and third in the 100 hurdles in 17:54. Pittsfield’s Hannah Williams was third in the 800 in 2:43.89. Liberty’s Arianna Neisen was second in the 3,200 in 12:05.47 and third in the 1,600 in 5:36.12. Pittsfield took second in the 4×100 relay in 53.42 and the 4×400 in 4:28.59. Illini West’s Yoanny Espinoza won the triple jump with a leap of 9.59 meters.

At Troy, Ill.

Triad Invitational: The Quincy High School doubles team of Anderson Knapp and Jason Derian went 3-0 in the No. 3 slot as the Blue Devils won two of their three duals. The Blue Devils lost to Belleville West 3-2 and beat Batavia 4-1 and Mascoutah 3-2. Gavin Wang earned a 5-7, 7-5, 11-9 victory at No. 1 singles to clinch the match against Mascoutah. Wang finished 2-1. Keshav Ghanekar earned a 4-6, 6-1, 11-9 victory at No. 2 singles for the Blue Devils against Batavia.

At South Park, Chatham, Ill.

Chatham Glenwood 9, Quincy Notre Dame 3: A couple of defensive miscues in the bottom of the first inning snowballed into a six-run uprising by the Titans, which carried them to the non-conference victory. Glenwood tagged QND starter Alex Connoyer for eight runs in two innings, although only two were earned. The Raiders didn’t rally until the seventh when they loaded the bases with no outs thanks to a walk, a single and a hit batter. One out later, Jake Schisler delivered an RBI single and two more runs scored on a passed ball and Dalton Miller’s RBI groundout. The rally ended on a flyball with a runner at third. Schisler collected two hits as the Raiders fell to 7-1 overall.

At Pittsfield, Ill.

Pittsfield 6, Central 4: After allowing the Panthers to score four runs in the top of the first inning, the Saukees fought their way back by scoring once in the second and five times in the third to improve to 10-2. Nate Scranton went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs for the Saukees, while Justin Pennock went 2 for 3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Konner Allen allowed one earned run and five hits over seven innings with eight strikeouts to earn the victory. Keaton Dickhut and Allison had two hits apiece for the Panthers, while Dickhut allowed just two earned runs, but he walked six and struck out only one.

At Kirksville, Mo.

Hannibal 4, Kirksville 3: The Pirates scratched across single runs in the top of the sixth and seventh innings to secure the victory. In the sixth, Alex Friday doubled and scored on an error. In the seventh, Keaton Scott walked, stole second, took third on a passed ball and scored on Aaris Stolte’s single. Stolte allowed two earned runs and eight hits over seven innings with four strikeouts and no walks to earn the victory. The Pirates were limited to five hits.

Hannibal 5, Knox County 0: Back-to-back singles by Aaris Stolte and Kane Wilson in the first inning led to two runs as Stolte scored on an error and Wilson scored on Ryan Ross’ single. Cody Culp and Keaton Scott added RBI singles in the sixth inning. Alex Friday and Evan Harsell combined on a three-hit shutout. Both struck out four.

At Flower City Park, Palmyra, Mo.

Moberly 9, Palmyra 7: The Panthers scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning, but the Spartans scored twice in the top of the eighth to snare the victory. Palmyra scored on five straight at-bats in the first inning, getting a bases-loaded walk by Nolyn Richards followed by three RBI singles and a hit batter that forced in a run. Moberly used a hit batter and a double to start the eighth inning to start the rally and scored on a groundout and a wild pitch. Alex Loman went 4 for 5 for the Panthers, while Alex Wilson and Jon Lundberg had two hits apiece.

At O’Fallon, Ill.

O’Fallon 11, Quincy Notre Dame 9: A five-run second inning gave the Raiders the lead, but the Panthers responded with eight runs in the bottom of the frame to take the first game of the doubleheader. An RBI single by Caitlin Bunte with one out in second gave QND the lead, and two batters later, Abbey Schreacke belted a three-run homer for a 6-2 advantage. The first four batters reached safely for O’Fallon in the bottom of the second, and back-to-back doubles by Janning and Ecker plated four runs. Bunte went 4 for 5 with three runs scored, while Schreacke, Eryn Cornwell and Alyssa Ley had two hits apiece.

Quincy Notre Dame 17, O’Fallon 8: Leading 3-2 going to the fifth, the Raiders exploded for 11 runs to salvage the twinbill split. Back-to-back bases loaded walks one out started the merry-go-round in the fifth, and seven runs scored with two outs, highlighted by Logan Pieper’s two-run double. Eryn Cornwell went 3 for 5 with five RBIs, while Brooke Boden went 3 for 5 and Abbey Schreacke, Lindsey Fischer and Pieper each had two hits. Cornwell allowed four earned runs and eight hits, while striking out six and walking two to earn the victory. The Raiders made six errors behind her. The Raiders are 7-2 overall.

At Beardstown, Ill.

Beardstown Tournament

Central 12, Liberty 1: The Panthers opened the tournament by scoring five runs in the first inning and plating at least two runs in each of the four innings. Macie Reuschel, Lauren Miller and Katie Hildebrand each went 3 for 3 for Central, with Hildebrand and Carlie Goehl each driving in three runs. Haley Cramer struck out five and allowed four hits. Natalie Hildebrand had two hits for the Eagles.

Springfield 12, Central 4: The Senators scored six runs in the top of the first and four more in the second to advance to the tournament title game. The Panthers committed seven errors, which led to six unearned runs. Carlie Goehl, Karly Peters and Macie Reuschel each had a double for Central, while Goehl collected two hits and two RBIs.

Carrollton 12, Central 10: After allowing seven runs in the bottom of the second inning, the Panthers came right back with a 10-run outburst in the top of the third. However, the Hawks scored three times in the fourth and again in the fifth to win the third-place game. Karly Peters and Claire Huston each had two hits for the Panthers, while Carlie Goehl and Lauren Miller each drove in two runs.

Liberty 9, West Hancock 5: The Eagles used a six-run fourth inning to take the lead and finished off the victory courtesy of a 14-hit attack. Kenley Kurfman and Larissa Neisen each had a two-run double in the pivotal fourth inning. Neisen finished 3 for 4, while Anna Wheelock, Ally Lefringhouse and Reese Vance each had two hits. Jade Blair struck out four and allowed nine hits in earning the victory.

Beardstown 15, Liberty 3: The Tigers scored 14 runs in the second and third innings combined to hand the Eagles the loss. Jacie Blair went 2 for 3 with a triple for Liberty, while Natalie Hildebrand and Kenley Kurfman each had a double. Beardstown finished with 15 hits.
