At East Moline, Ill.

United Township 2, Quincy High School 1: A one-out single and a hit batter gave the Panthers the opportunity to score in the bottom of the seventh, and a ground ball the Blue Devils couldn’t turn into a double play saddled them with the loss in the opener of the Western Big 6 Conference doubleheader. Quincy took the lead in the third by loading the bases with a Blake Bunch single, a Joe Schroeder walk and a Logan Eaton bunt single. Kenny Taylor’s sacrifice fly plated a run. The Panthers tied the game in the fourth with a one-out single, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a run-scoring groundout. Noah Harbin worked the first six innings for the Blue Devils, allowing one hit and striking out 12 with three walks.

Quincy High School 4, United Township 1: Brady Walker scattered seven hits and allowed one earned run over seven innings to help the Blue Devils earn the WB6 split. Luke Mettemeyer and Grayson Cook smacked back-to-back doubles in the first inning to plate the Blue Devils’ first run. Quincy scored twice in the second on a passed ball and an error. Raulin Zanger led off the fifth with a double, and with one out, Logan Eaton delivered an RBI double. Mettemeyer and Cook each went 3 for 4. The Blue Devils are 7-6 overall and 3-2 in the WB6.

At Liberty, Ill.

Liberty 6, Central 3: Landon Deege struck out seven and allowed three unearned runs over six innings to power the Eagles to the victory. He allowed only six hits and walked three. Aaron Lease had one strikeout in the seventh to earn the save. Logan Robbins went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs for Liberty. Conner Griffin went 2 for 4 with a run scored for the Panthers.

Central Cluster

Quincy Notre Dame 11, Central 2: The Raiders scored four runs in each of the first two innings and never trailed. Logan Pieper had an RBI single and Peyton Stupavsky added an RBI sacrifice fly in the first inning, while Brooke Boden had an RBI single and Lindsey Fischer a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the second. Caitlin Bunte and Abbey Schreacke each had three hits for the Raiders, while Libby Ippensen went 2 for 2 with a double for the Panthers. Macie Reuschel had a two-run single for the Panthers in the third inning.

Calhoun 1, Quincy Notre Dame 0: A third-inning run allowed the Warriors to win the pitchers’ duel. Haley Schertel went 2 for 3 for the Raiders’ only hits, while Brooke Boden limited the Warriors to three hits and one unearned run. She struck out five and walked none. Calhoun’s Audrey Gilman struck out 13 and walked three.

Calhoun 5, Central 2: The Warriors scored five times in the first inning, but the Panthers tried to scrap their way back into the game. Central plated a run in the first inning when Hamilton drew a bases loaded walk. Carlie Goehl’s RBI single in the fifth scored another run for the Panthers, who left two runners in scoring position in the fifth. Karlee Marlow went 2 for 3 for Central, which did not allow an earned run.

At Petersburg, Ill.

At PORTA Cluster

Brown County 11, Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin 1: Taryn Moorman allowed two hits and one unearned run as the Hornets overwhelmed the Cyclones. Moorman struck out nine and walked one. Karsyn Moorman went 4 for 4 with two doubles, two runs scored and five RBIs, while Cortni Law went 2 for 4 with a double, a home run and three RBIs. Klare Flynn added two hits for the Hornets.

Brown County 15, Petersburg PORTA 2: The Hornets improved to 16-0. No other stats were available due to technical issues.

Girls track and field

At Rock Island, Ill.

Rock Island ABC meet: Quincy High School senior Anna Schuering won the 800-meter run in 2:24.32 and was second in the 1,600 run in 5:14.95. QHS junior Alexandria Meyers was second in the 3,200 run in 12:19. Blue Devils junior Ava Winking took third in the pole vault, clearing 2.3 meters.

Girls soccer

At Porter Stadium, Hannibal, Mo.

Hannibal Tournament: The Pirates won their own event as Bella Falconer scored twice to lead Hannibal to a 2-1 victory over Raymore-Peculiar in the title game. Abbie Martin had two assists and Ava Turner made 10 saves. The Pirates also beat Sikeston 8-0 and are 11-3 overall.
