Torrid start from 3-point range carries top-ranked QND girls to another road victory
BELLEVILLE, Ill. — A Blair barrage put the top-ranked Quincy Notre Dame girls basketball team on the right path to another victory.
Senior guard Blair Eftink opened Friday night’s game at Belleville Althoff with a 3-pointer from the top of the key and another from the left corner, setting the stage for a 57-38 victory in the second of three road games in three days.
QND (10-1) opened the stretch with Thursday’s 36-24 victory at Springfield Sacred Heart-Griffin and will wrap it up Saturday at Breese Mater Dei. Two more road games await Monday at Havana and Tuesday at Palmyra.
Eftink’s hot start carried over to her teammates.
Abbey Schreacke put the Raiders ahead 8-2 three minutes into the game when she scored off a left-handed drive for the only non-perimeter basket of the first quarter. Ari Buehler hit a 3-pointer from the left wing, Sage Stratton hit a trey from the left corner and Schreacke capped it with a 3-pointer to the right of the top of the key.
Eftink opened the second quarter with a 3-pointer from the right wing and finished the quarter with a trey from the left corner, giving the Raiders a 31-15 halftime lead.
Eftink finished with 26 points and eight rebounds. Schreacke added 12 points.
