QUINCY — Shellshocked, but resilient.

Quincy Notre Dame girls soccer coach Mark Longo appreciates the second part of that statement. Not so much the first.

The Raiders moseyed through the start of Thursday’s matchup with Decatur St. Teresa at Advance Physical Therapy Field, falling behind 2-0 in the first 14 minutes as the Bulldogs scored just four minutes apart.

The reaction to the deficit and the sluggish beginning bodes well for the future. QND scored six unanswered goals and took a 6-2 victory with it along with the knowledge it can’t just show up and play without energy and expect there to be no consequence.

Trailing 2-0 in the 15th minute, the Raiders began their resurgence when Makayla Patton headed in a Lia Quintero corner kick for the first goal. QND tied the game three minutes later when Avery Keck redirected a cross from Quintero into the net.

Keck scored again by winning a 50/50 ball and converting it for a 3-2 lead late in the first half.

Less than six minutes into the second half, Quintero scored off an assist from Annie Eaton. Keck converted a penalty kick for the hat trick, and Quintero added the final goal with 5:30 remaining.

The Raiders improve to 7-1-3.
