CHARLESTON, Ill. — Jettason Rose is in prime position to finish his prep track career on top of the podium.

The Quincy High School senior sprinter posted the fastest time in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash during the Class 3A boys state track and field championships Friday at O’Brien Stadium on the Eastern Illinois University campus.

Rose blazed to the top spot in 21.76 seconds, .22 seconds ahead of Thornton Fractional’s Ryan Coleman. No one else broke 22 seconds.

It will be one of two finals Rose will compete in Saturday. He qualified for the finals in the 100 dash in sixth place at 10.84 seconds. Palatine Fremd’s Will Stewart led the field at 10.57 seconds.

The Blue Devils’ Reid Savage missed a shot at the finals in the 110 hurdles, finishing 13th in 15.33 seconds. QHS’s LaMarrio Rodgers was 18th in the discus with a toss of 45.55 meters.
