Raiders rebound with dominant first half against Tigers to earn first victory

QUINCY — One night after being shut out in the season opener by Peoria Notre Dame, the Quincy Notre Dame boys soccer team found its offensive rhythm.

Tanner Anderson scored a hat trick in the first half and the Raiders rumbled to a 6-0 victory over Beardstown at Advance Physical Therapy Field on Tuesday night.

In the 23rd minute, senior midfielder John Drew controlled an errant pass and turned it into the first goal by slotting it to the keeper’s left. Anderson scored the next three goals — the first off an assist from Deakon Schuette, the second from 20 yards out and the third on a penalty kick. Jake Hoyt’s header into the top corner of the net made it 5-0 at halftime.

Leo Cann scored the final goal, running onto a through ball played from the back by Schuette.
