Raiders rack up hits in six-inning victory over Saukees

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The Quincy Notre Dame baseball team just keeps hitting.

The Raiders collected 12 hits, scored in four of the six innings played Wednesday and rolled to a 14-4 victory over Pittsfield. The Raiders have scored 10 or more runs in eight of their 12 games this season and have collected 10 or more hits eight times.

A five-run second inning set the tone this time. With two outs and two runners on, Jake Schisler doubled to plate one run, and Tucker Tollerton followed with a walk to load the bases. Dalton Miller unloaded them with a three-run double to right field.

Jack Linenfelser’s two-out, two-run single in the fourth inning made it a 7-1 lead. Tollerton and Miller had RBI singles in the fifth, and Tollerton added a two-run triple in the sixth.

Miller went 4 for 5 with four RBIs, while Tollerton was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Schisler had two hits, scored three runs and drove in two.

Evan Kenning earned the victory, allowing two runs and two hits over four innings with three strikeouts and six walks. The Saukees were limited to two singles.

QND (11-1) heads to the Beardstown Tournament this weekend where it will face Carrollton and Illini West in its first two games.
