Raiders’ Knuffman, Blue Devils’ Gold and Geisendorfer all finish strong at state golf tourney

DECATUR, Ill. — Hana Knuffman walked away with a solid closing stretch to her prep golf career.

The Quincy Notre Dame senior shot a 1-over 37 on the final nine holes Saturday at Red Tail Run Golf Course, leading to a 5-over 77 that moved her into the top 30 individually at the Class 1A girls state tournament.

Knuffman carded a 161 total, which tied her for 27th overall. Her final round featured a birdie on the par-4 11th hole and pars on six of the final seven holes.

At the Class 2A state tournament at Hickory Point Golf Course in Forsyth, Quincy High School sophomore Sophia Gold birdied the par-5 15th and played the final six holes in 1-under to shoot a 1-over 73 and moved her into a tie for 21st with a 151 total.

Blue Devils senior Saya Geisendorfer birdied the par-4 17th and shot a 6-over 78 to leave her tied for 25th with a 153 total.
