Raiders continue offensive onslaught as winning streak reaches 13 straight games
QUINCY — If rain cannot slow the Quincy Notre Dame baseball team’s offense, what can?
Opposing pitchers are asking the same thing.
Thursday at the Ferd, the Raiders scored in double digits for the fourth straight game and the 13th time this season while beating West Hancock 11-0. QND has outscored its opponents 49-3 in the last four games and 66-11 during a 13-game winning streak.
The Raiders (22-2) also have shut out seven opponents during the streak.
All nine starters had one hit for QND with four delivering extra-base hits. Brady Kindhart hit a two-run home run in the third inning, Alex Connoyer hit a three-run homer in the fourth and Jack Linenfelser delivered a two-run double to cap the scoring. Tucker Tollerton doubled in the first inning ahead of Dalton Miller’s two-run single.
Meanwhile, Connoyer tossed a one-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks. He retired 11 of the 12 batters he faced in the first four innings and saw a runner who reached on an error in the third get caught stealing. Adam Harness’ one-out single to right field in the fifth inning broke up the no-hitter.
It’s the second straight game all nine starters in QND’s lineup had at least one hit as the Raiders rattled 13 hits in Wednesday’s 15-0 victory over Southeastern. Kindhart went 2 for 2 with a triple, a home run and five RBIs against the Suns, while Ben Kasparie went 3 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs. Both hit a grand slam.
The Raiders are scheduled to face three Missouri schools this weekend in the QND/Palmyra Spring Slam, squaring off against Marceline at 6:30 p.m. Friday and seeing Hannibal at 9 a.m. Saturday and St. Charles at 1 p.m.
