QUINCY — A feisty, fast-paced battle turned into an unexpected blowout at the end with Kheni Briggs becoming the reason why.

The Burlington School led Memphis East by six points heading to the fourth quarter of Saturday morning’s matchup in the fourth Quincy Shootout, but Briggs ignited the Spartans’ 26-point fourth-quarter surge by scoring 11 of his 14 points in the final frame.

It allowed the North Carolina school to head home with a 79-54 victory.

Avion Pinner led Burlington with 21 points, while Zion Walker added 13 points.

After making seven 3-pointers in the first three quarters, Memphis East went cold from the perimeter down the stretch, scoring just seven points with three field goals and a free throw in the fourth quarter. Billy Tre Richmond led the Mustangs with 15 points, while Markese Washington had 13.
