QUINCY — The Modesto Christian boys basketball team’s 2,000-mile trip from California seemed like a worthwhile adventure when the Crusaders had a 45-40 halftime lead over CBC out of St. Louis.

The Crusaders must have forgotten to pack their offense for the second half.

The Cadets scored 44 points in the second half, while limiting the Crusaders to nine points in the third quarter and two field goals in the fourth quarter of an 84-65 victory in the fourth Quincy Shootout at Blue Devil Gym.

CBC had five players finish in double figures with Robert Martin and Mikhail Abdul-Hamid each scoring 16 points. Larry Hughes Jr. and John Bol, the 7-foot-2 sophomore who received rock-star treatment from some fans, each had 14 points. Nassir Binion added 10 points.

BJ Davis and Jamari Phillips led Modesto Christian with 19 points apiece.
