Quincy Champions wrestling club sending eight grapplers to IKWF state tournament

QUINCY — The Quincy Champions wrestling club is sending a strong contingent of grapplers to the Illinois Kids Wrestling Federation state tournament this weekend at the Decatur Civic Center.

The Champions club had five wrestlers qualify in the Bantam division and three grapplers advance in the Intermediate division. The Champions club won the team title at the sectional in the Bantam division. That came on the heels of winning regional championships in both the Bantam and Intermediate divisions.

In the Bantam division, the Champions club had a wrestler win a sectional title, three take second and another finish third to qualify for the state tournament.

Aleerah Snow took first at 50 points, while Brent Hills II at 84 pounds, Abel Orr at 95 pounds and Beau Hill at 120 each placed second. Abram Schrand finished third at 55 pounds.

In the Intermediate division, the Champions club had one second-place finisher and two third-place winners. Advancing to state were Walker Kelley, who was second at 55 pounds, along with Jase Lohmeyer, third at 79 pounds, and Henry Eckersley, third at 84 pounds.
