Quincy Catholic golfers capture IHSA sectional titles, head to girls state tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A strong contingent of Quincy Catholic golfers is headed to the Illinois Elementary School Association girls state tournament after topping the field Thursday at the sectional at Lincoln Greens Golf Course.

Quincy Blessed Sacrament eighth grader Natalie Druffel won the individual title with an 86, while the Quincy St. Peter squad won the team title by shooting a 406, which was 61 strokes better than 

St. Peter eighth grader Nancy Scholz and seventh grader Olivia Scholz finished third and fourth, respectively, with rounds of 88 and 94. Georgia Wisslead, a seventh grader, shot a 111, and Catherine Knuffman, a seventh grader, shot a 113 for St. Peter.

Quincy Junior High School sixth grader Valle Tatman advanced as an individual, shooting a 107 to finish 12th.

The state tournament will be played next Thursday at Metamora Field Golf Course in Metamora, Ill.
