QUINCY — Adams County golfers hoping to play in the 50th Pepsi Little People’s Golf Championships can get financial help through the Quincy Breakfast Optimist Club’s scholarship fund.

The BOC will pay a part of the entry fee for the first 30 players from Adams County who register to participate in the 2023 event. The club will pay $20 toward the entry fee for boys and girls 3-7; $30 for boys and girls 8-9; $35 for boys and girls 10-11 and $40 for boys and girls 12-18.

Entry fees range from $100 for boys and girls ages 3-7 to $195 for golfers ages 12-18.

“With one of the top youth golf tournaments in the world held in our own backyard, we want local young golfers to have every opportunity to play against the best competition in the world,” said Mike Wensing, chair of the Optimist Club’s golf committee. “We want to make sure the entry fee is not an obstacle for any child who wants to compete.”

The LPGC is scheduled to take place June 19-21 at Westview Golf Course and the Knights of Columbus Par-3 Course.

“Little People’s is delighted that the Quincy Breakfast Optimist Club is helping make it possible for more Quincy and Adams County golfers to participate in our tournament,” said Nan Ryan, LPGC executive director. “Although Little People’s is an international tournament, we encourage local participation, as it gives Adams County youth an opportunity to compete in a national junior tournament with players from around the world.”

Registration is now open for the event, which also features a parent-child event June 18 at Westview. Visit littlepeoplesgolf.com to find the registration form.

Applebee’s is sponsoring the parent-child event, and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the LPGC, is offering every contestant two meal cards for 50% off each meal at Applebee’s. The national restaurant chain also is providing a $100 gift coupon for each of the six winning parent-child age division teams.

In addition, during the June 19 practice round, Applebee’s will hold a closest-to-the-pin contest on the ninth hole at Westview, with a $50 gift certificate from the Westview Pro Shop going to the winner.
