LINCOLN, Ill. — The mark of a championship-caliber team is the ability to take a punch and come back swinging.

The Quincy Notre Dame volleyball team won’t ever stay down for the count.

The Raiders saw a 14-match win streak get snapped in the semifinals of the Lincoln Tournament on Saturday at Roy S. Anderson Gym, but they rebounded to sweep Bartonville Limestone 25-20, 25-15 in the third-place match.

Senior middle hitter Abbey Schreacke had eight kills in the third-place match and sophomore setter Annie Eaton had 17 assists.

The Raiders (15-1) won their first match Saturday morning to complete pool play 3-0 after beating Deer Creek-Mackinaw 25-23, 25-11, Peoria Notre Dame 25-10, 25-17 and Chatham Glenwood 25-14, 25-10. In the semifinals against O’Fallon, a Class 4A program that entered with an 11-2 record, the Raiders fell 20-25, 25-23, 15-11.

The victory over Limestone meant QND won four of its five matches over two days.

Eaton, Schreake and junior outside hitter Emma Hoing were named to the all-tournament team.
