QND football program to hold inaugural Hog-N-Dog Saturday at Knights of Columbus

QUINCY ­— The Knights of Columbus grounds, 700 S. 36th Street, will be the site for the inaugural Hog-N-Dog, a fundraiser for the Quincy Notre Dame football program. A variety of activities and events are planned.

The day will begin with a volleyball tournament beginning at 8 a.m. Entry is limited to the first 16 teams to sign up and pay the entry fee of $120 per team by July 21. Each team may have 6-10 players, ages 14 and older. Each team must have a minimum of three females on the court at all times. Payment can be made by cash, Venmo@JackCornell or check (with team name included on check) payable to QND Football. Payments can be dropped off in the main office at QND from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday-Thursday Juy 17-20. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place. A bags tournament will be held in Fr. McGivney Hall. Teams of two players (bring a partner) can register for the “Backyard Division” at 11 a.m. with play beginning at noon. Registration for the “League Division” will be held beginning at 1 p.m. with bags flying at 2 p.m. Both leagues will be double elimination. A 50% payout will be made to the top three places. Silent auction items will also be up for bid throughout the day with winning bids awarded at 4 p.m. Also happening during the day will be a raffle for a chance to win one of four firearms, two bourbons or $1,000 cash. Chuck Arnold from HyVee Catering will be grilling and a pasta wagon and cash bar will also be available.

First responders will offer demonstrations throughout the day including the bomb squad and K9 unit.
