CHARLESTON, Ill. — Anna Schuering’s celebrated cross country and track career will end with two races on the final day of the season.

The Quincy High School senior deserves that last hurrah.

Schuering qualified for the 800-meter finals at the Class 3A state track and field championships Friday at O’Brien Stadium on the Eastern Illinois University campus. She will also run in the 3,200 finals Saturday.

Schuering finished her 800 preliminary race in 2 minutes, 19.93 seconds, qualifying eighth among the 12 runners to advance to the finals.

QHS freshman Anna Venvertloh finished 22nd in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters but missing out on the finals.
