ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Anna Schuering’s reign over the distance races in the Western Big 6 Conference is complete.

The Quincy High School senior was named the league’s co-MVP after winning the 800-, 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs Friday at the WB6 girls track and field championships at Rock Island Stadium. Schuering also won the WB6 cross country championship last fall.

Just like during cross country, no one was within sight of her at the finish line.

In the 1,600, the gap widened as Anna Schuering won in 5:24.61. Rock Island Alleman’s Tess Hendrickson finished second in 5:31.01. Olvia Schuering was third (5:34.67) and the Blue Devils’ Alexandria Meyers was fourth (5:34.74).

In the 3,200, Anna Schuering ran away from the pack, finishing in 11:29.28. United Township’s Madelyn Miller was second in 11:44.93. Olivia Schuering was third (12:06.19) and Meyers was fourth (12:06.52)

QHS freshman Anna Venvertloh won the 400 dash, finishing in 1:01.43, edging Geneseo’s Sierra Krueger by .05 seconds. She also took third in the high jump, clearing 1.47 meters.

Blue Devils freshman Sadiya Hodges was second in the long jump with a leap of 4.81 meters. Geneseo’s Annie Wirth won the title with a jump of 5.09 meters.

Overall, Quincy finished third with 92 points. Geneseo won the conference championship with 158 points, while United Township was second with 123.5.
