QUINCY — The effort was commendable, especially the manner in which the Quincy High School girls soccer team locked down defensively on Edwardsville in the second half of Friday night’s Class 3A regional championship at Flinn Stadium.

However, the Tigers scored with 29.5 seconds remaining in regulation to earn a 2-1 victory and end the Blue Devils’ season with a 14-5-3 record.
