QUINCY — The Quincy High School boys tennis team outlasted Quincy Notre Dame in the first of their two head-to-head duals this season, winning 5-4 Monday afternoon at the Greeman Tennis Center in Reservoir Park.

The Blue Devils rebounded from losing two of the three doubles matches to take four of the six singles matches.

QND’s Marko Cucuk teamed up with Colin Larson to beat QHS’s Will Hanlin and Surya Reddy 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, while the Raiders’ Alex Strong and Daniel Dyer knocked off Trevor Nelson and Jason Derian 8-6 at No. 2 doubles. Ethan Stark and Anderson Knapp won the No. 3 doubles for the Blue Devils with an 8-0 victory over Aden Smith and Matthew Boudreau.

Cucuk set the tone in singles with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Hanlin at No. 1, but Reddy and Nelson won at Nos. 2 and 3 as Reddy beat Larson 6-3, 6-3 and Nelson beat Strong 6-2, 1-6 (10-6). At No. 4, Dyer outlasted Derian 6-2, 1-6 (10-6) before the Blue Devils won the final two matches.

Stark beat Smith 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5, and Knapp beat Boudreau 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

The teams are scheduled to square off again May 9.
