Photo gallery: QHS baseball, softball teams play side-by-side with home games

QUINCY — The Quincy High School baseball team finally got the chance to play at home Thursday, while the QHS softball team dove into Western Big 6 Conference play in its own backyard.

The baseball team improved to 2-2 with a 15-0 victory over Palmyra featuring Evan Sohn and Joe Schroeder setting the stage at the top of the order. Sohn went 3 for 3 with three runs scored, while Schroeder went 3 for 3 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a double. Jack Mettemeyer went 2 for 2 with a home run and three RBIs.

Schroeder allowed one hit over three innings with four strikeouts to earn the victory.

Meanwhile, the softball team fell 15-6 to Sterling, which is undefeated and is expected to vie for the WB6 championship. Quincy is 3-3 and has lost its first two WB6 games.
