QUINCY — The Quincy High School football program brought out the best in its fanbase.

Quincy fans packed the Flinn Stadium grandstand — shoulder to shoulder is how QHS defensive lineman Ryan Mast described it — for Saturday’s Class 7A state quarterfinal matchup with Chicago Mount Carmel. It was the first state quarterfinal appearance for the Blue Devils in program history.

The Caravan, the state’s No. 1-ranked team and the defending state champions, ended the Blue Devils; historic run with a 61-14 victory, but it didn’t diminish the 11-win season the Blue Devils enjoyed.
