Pair of Quincy sisters advance in Drive Chip & Putt Championships
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Scholz sisters are headed to the sub-regional competition for the National Drive Chip & Putt Championships.
Nancy Scholz finished second in the girls 14-15 division in Wednesday’s local qualifier at The Rail Golf Course, while Mary Scholz finished third in the girls 7-9 division. They will participate in the sub-regional August 8 at Sunset Hills Country Club in Edwardsville.
Nancy was the top finisher in the drive contest, earning 50 points. She was second in both the putting and chipping contest and accumulated 125 points. She finished one point behind Madeline Johnston of Springfield.
Mary was second in the drive contest, third in putting and fourth in chipping to finish with 27 points. Jordan Wear won the division with 34 points.
