BURLINGTON, Iowa — Harry Oden collected four hits and the Quincy Doggy Paddlers’ offense erupted for 14 hits overall and five extra-base knocks in Tuesday night’s 10-7 victory over the Burlington Bees at Community Field.

The Doggy Paddlers grabbed the lead with a five-run second inning. Brayden Roberts led off by getting hit by a pitch, Brady Kindhart singled and Matthew Thompson singled to load the bases. One out later, Oden singled to center field to drive in two runs.

Jimmy Koza followed with an RBI double, and Wandel Campana capped the inning with a two-run double.

The Bees tied the game at 5 in the fourth inning, scoring three times courtesy of free bases. Burlington took advantage of one hit batter, a walk, three wild pitches and one passed ball. The Bees had just one single in the inning.

However, the Doggy Paddlers came back with a run in the top of the sixth as Oden singled with two outs, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on Koza’s single.

A four-run top of the ninth sealed the victory. Tommy Harrison led off with a home run, while Oden had an RBI single and Campana and Tyler Butina drew bases-loaded walks.

Oden went 4 for 5 with two runs scored and three RBIs, while Koza finished 3 for 6 and Campana and Kindhart each had two hits. Cody Shaffer, a Mendon Unity product, earned the victory as he allowed three hits and two earned runs over five innings with five strikeouts.

The Doggy Paddlers (5-7) return to QU Stadium on Wednesday to face the Alton River Dragons (6-5).
