Liquor Booth Shot of the Game: Putback dunk by QND’s Jake Wallingford
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. — Jake Wallingford’s ability to play above the rim changes how the Quincy Notre Dame boys basketball team attacks.
It also allows him to go get the basketball whenever he chooses.
In the opening round of the State Farm Holiday Classic against Rock Falls, the 6-foot-8 Wallingford rose above everyone else to grab a rebound and throw down the putback dunk. In the fourth quarter of the Raiders’ 61-28 victory, Jackson Stratton took the ball in transition and laid his left-handed layup too hard off the glass.
Wallingford was running the middle of the floor on the break and caught the ball as it came off the rim and threw down a two-handed dunk as part of a 14-point effort. He went on to average 11 points in the four games in Bloomington and was named to the all-tournament team.
Still, his putback dunk was a highlight and is this week’s Liquor Booth Shot of the Game. Click the link below to see the video of the dunk.
