QUINCY — Something had to give.

Last Friday, when the undefeated Macomb softball team visited the Backyard to face undefeated Quincy Notre Dame, neither starting pitchers had allowed a run this season. That changed when the Raiders tagged Bombers starter Kaitlyn Robinson for three runs in the bottom of the first.

QND ace Eryn Cornwell surrendered two runs in the second, but she got both of those back with one swing in the fourth inning as she blasted a two-run home run to left-center field.

Cornwell did the rest in the pitcher’s circle, limiting the Bombers to one run over the final five innings as the Raiders enjoyed a statement victory by winning 8-3.

Cornwell’s home run is this week’s Liquor Booth Shot of the Game.
