Game Night Guide: Talented teams, top-notch players to heat up Quincy gyms during Quincy Shootout
QUINCY — It’s cold outside. Like really cold. Like your truck doesn’t want to start and whines when you do start it kind of cold.
That’s OK.
It’s warm in Blue Devil Gym and the Pit and a myriad of high school venues around the area where some of the best basketball is taking place this weekend.
The Quincy Shootout returns for its fourth installment and quite possibly the best lineup the nationally recognized platform has put together. COVID-19 caused the cancellation of last year’s event, but the vast number of high-profile recruits and top players traipsing into Quincy this weekend should make basketball fans brave the cold to get to the gym.
Here is the schedule for the weekend with both Quincy High School and Quincy Notre Dame playing in their respective gyms on Friday night:
Outside of Quincy, action is heating up, too.
In Palmyra, the championship games of the 79th annual Tony Lenzini Invitational are taking place Saturday night. The top-seeded Monroe City boys will square off against Hannibal, while the top-seeded Palmyra girls get a showdown with Canton.
There will be a full slate of boys games on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River on Friday night, highlighted by state-ranked Liberty traveling to Griggsville for a showdown with Tate Kunzeman and Griggsville-Perry.
