Freshmen provide spark as QHS girls roll to another WB6 road victory
GENESEO, Ill. — No Taylor Fohey, no problem.
With Fohey, the senior forward, nursing an ankle injury suffered in practice, the Quincy High School girls basketball team relied on its other twin tower to set the stage for a 63-28 Western Big 6 Conference victory over Geneseo on Thursday night.
Freshman forward Jada Brown scored the game’s first basket on a baseline jumper 25 seconds into the first quarter and finished with 19 points. Freshman guard Myley Longcor scored 17 points and senior guard Leah Chevalier added 10 points.
The Blue Devils (18-5, 7-2 WB6) have won six of their last seven games and climbed to No. 8 in the Class 4A state poll.
