Doggy Paddlers unable to halt Hoots’ record-setting win streak

Doggy Paddlers

O’FALLON, Mo. — The Quincy Doggy Paddlers didn’t have any luck bringing a record win streak to an end.

The O’Fallon Hoots scored five times in the bottom of the first inning and nine times in the first three innings combined while rolling to a 13-1 Prospect League victory in seven innings Thursday night at CarShield Field.

It is the Hoots’ league-record 16th victory in a row as they improved to 20-3 in the second half of the Prospect League season.

The Doggy Paddlers struck first by scoring their lone run in the top of the first inning. Kannon Kirk smacked a one-out double and scored on Brady Kindhart’s two-out single to left field.

The Hoots responded by manufacturing a five-run uprising with three stolen bases, one hit batter and two Doggy Paddlers errors in the bottom of the inning. Two more stolen bases in the second inning set up back-to-back run-scoring hits, and in the third inning, a walk, a double and an error led to two more runs.

Kirk finished 4 for 4 and Wandel Campana went 2 for 2 for the Doggy Paddlers, who are 6-19 in the second half of the Prospect League season and 15-33 overall.
