Doggy Paddlers muster just two hits in loss to Pistol Shrimp

PERU, Ill. — The Quincy Doggy Paddlers are limping to the finish line.

Three Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp pitchers limited the Doggy Paddlers to two hits Saturday night in Quincy’s 14-1 seven-inning loss at Schweickert Stadium. The Doggy Paddlers have lost five games in a row and 17 of their last 18 games.

Byron Blaise singled to left field in the first inning and Kannon Kirk singled to right field in the fifth inning for the Doggy Paddlers’ only hits. Blaise drew a bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning to force in the Doggy Paddlers’ run.

Quincy starter Cayman Huntsman allowed nine runs in three innings as he fell to 1-5 on the season. Illinois Valley starter Izzaq Zrust allowed one hit over four innings to improve to 4-1.
