Deadline to sign up for 3-on-3 basketball Memorial Day weekend tournament in Berrian Park is May 19
QUINCY — The Penny Denise Lewis Foundation will hold a 3-on-3 tournament at Berrian Park, 1200 N. 13th, on Saturday and Sunday, May 25 and 26. The tournament is open to youths ages 5 to 17 and also adults 18 and older. Youth games will be held on Saturday, with the adult games scheduled for Sunday.
Organizers say the tournament was created to fill the void with the end of the annual Gus Macker tournament. Sixteen teams participated in the first year of the tournament in 2022, with that number increasing to 40 teams in 2023. The short-term goal this year is to triple the number of teams from year one and eventually have participation numbers that allow the tournament to return downtown.
Cost is $150 per team. The entry deadline is Sunday, May 19. Registration and payment of the entry fee can be completed at Gaybopdlqcy.com
All proceeds will be given to the PDL Foundation to be used in organizing future tournaments, printing T-shirts and buying trophies for the youth participants.
