Brewster Academy moves to No. 2 in ESPN national poll ahead of Quincy Shootout appearance
QUINCY — The country’s second-best prep boys basketball team will be appearing in Blue Devil Gym this weekend.
So will three other nationally ranked teams.
The SC Next Top 25 — ESPN’s high school boys basketball weekly rankings — were released Tuesday with Brewster Academy, located in Wolfeboro, N.H., climbing from No. 6 to No. 2 following a pair of notable victories at the Hoophall Classic, including beating IMG Academy of Bradenton, Fla.
The Bobcats (17-2) are riding a six-game win streak to the seventh Quincy Shootout, where they will face Link Academy at 5:45 p.m. Friday and St. Louis Chaminade at 9 p.m. Saturday.
Brewster Academy enjoys a diverse roster with Ebuka Okorie, a senior guard who is committed to Stanford, being the only player from New Hampshire. Dwayne Aristode, a guard from the Netherlands, is a top-50 recruit nationally and has signed with Arizona, while Killyan Toure of France has signed with Iowa State, Preston Fowler, a forward from Vernon, Conn., has signed with James Madison.
The Bobcats are joined in the SC Next Top 25 by Sunrise Christian at No. 12, Link Academy at No. 14 and Wasatch Academy at No. 16.
Sunrise Christian is returning to the Quincy Shootout, having played in the inaugural event in 2018. The Bel Aire, Kan., school features junior guard Aidan Chronister, who is considered a top-50 recruit nationally in the Class of 2026 and holds offers from Mizzou, Indiana, Iowa and Oklahoma. Chidi Nwigwe and Gavin and Gallagher Placide — all juniors — are considered top 150 recruits as well.
Link Academy has been a fan favorite since joining the Shootout lineup in 2022, and this collection of talent is as impressive as any the Lions have brought here. The lineup features four top-50 recruits — Chris Cenak, who has signed with Houston; Jerry Easter, who has signed with USC; Davion Hannan, who has signed with Alabama; and A’mare Bynum, who has signed with Ohio State — and several uncommitted four-star recruits.
This will be Wasatch Academy’s third consecutive appearance in the Shootout, and the return of standout guard Isaiah Harwell, who has signed with Houston, is a boon. New Mexico State signee Augustine Ekwe is a proven scorer. Katrell Harman, a 6-foot-5 junior who is a top-60 recruit in the Class of 2026, holds offers from Illinois, Auburn, Oregon and others.
