BURLINGTON, Iowa — A six-run outburst by the Burlington Bees in the bottom of the first inning Sunday afternoon put the Quincy Doggy Paddlers in a come-from-behind position that never materialized into a rally.

The Doggy Paddlers suffered an 11-1 loss in seven innings, losing their sixth straight game and for the 18th time in their last 19 games.

The Bees tagged Doggy Paddlers starter Jared Marty for six runs in the bottom of the first inning at Community Field as three of the first four batters doubled and six of the first seven reached safely. The Bees’ Caleb Siebers capped the first inning with a two-run home run.

The Doggy Paddlers scored their lone run in the third inning as Jack Linenfelser led off with a single, stole second and scored on Jimmy Koza’s single.

Koza finished 3 for 4, while Byron Blaise and Wandel Campana each had two hits for the Doggy Paddlers, who will play three games at the Clinton LumberKings before finishing the season Thursday at QU Stadium against the Bees.
