QUINCY — Owen Uppinghouse isn’t taking long to assert his dominance.

The Quincy High School 160-pound senior wrestler went 6-0 last week with only two of his four matches stretching beyond the first period. Last Thursday at home, Uppinghouse pinned Fort Madison’s Emmett Kruse in 3 minutes, 37 seconds.

He was even better at the Plainfield North Dual Team Tournament. The Blue Devils finished sixth in the 16-team field with Uppinghouse going 5-0 individually with four pins.

Uppinghouse stuck Hinsdale Central’s Zach Kruse in 1:19, pinned Plainfield North’s Anthony Gulino in 1:18, flatbacked Dundee-Crown’s Jose Gavina in 1:55 and finished off Elmhurst York’s Alec Walker in 49 seconds. He also recorded a 19-4 technical fall against Prairie Ridge’s Draeden Bish.

Overall this season, Uppinghouse is 9-0 with seven pins.

For his efforts, Uppinghouse is this week’s Area Distributors Area Player of the Week.
