Schuck on a Truck Zoom Edition: HD Intelligence vice president Andy Schmitt

Andy Schmitt

Quincy High School graduate Andy Schmitt is the vice president of HD Intelligence and based in Champaign, Ill.

Andy Schmitt’s love of competition and sports morphed into a passion for the processes coaches, athletes and teams go through over the course of a season and beyond to elevate their game to a championship level.

The Quincy High School graduate saw it first hand as a student manager with the University of Illinois men’s basketball program and later as he rose through the collegiate ranks as a much respected director of basketball operations.

After working on the staffs at New Mexico State and North Texas, Schmitt changed course slightly to offer his knowledge, passion and commitment to more than one school.

A year ago, Schmitt joined the team at HD Intelligence, which is the first full-service analytics company to operate exclusively in the world of college basketball. HDI works with men’s and women’s programs to identify, address and help with schedule optimization and performance analytics.

Schmitt recently sat down with Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman to discuss his new role, his path through college basketball and how HDI is slowly changing the way college basketball coaches look at the game.
