MONROE CITY, Mo. — Andre White spent a majority of his summer traveling across the United States with his son, Dez, on the AAU basketball circuit, and the reward of seeing his son achieve the dream of receiving an NCAA Division I scholarship is priceless.

The fact Dez White will be playing for a former University of Missouri standout makes it all the better.

Dez White recently announced his commitment to George Mason University, which is coached by former Mizzou sharpshooter Kim English. Those ties to Ol’ Mizzou run deep. Andre White, who was a three-sport athlete at Monroe City, played safety for the Tigers in the early 1990s.

White has spent the better part of the last 30 years in his hometown and stayed close to the Monroe City sports programs, serving as an assistant coach, a radio broadcaster and ardent supporter.

He joined Muddy River Sports Editor Matt Schuckman for the latest episode of “Schuck on a Truck,” brought to you by Area Distributors, to discuss Monroe City athletics, Mizzou football and watching the next generation of standout athletes take center stage.
