Question of the Week: What would your entrance music be?
QUINCY — The music blaring over the speakers at Citi Field as New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz enters from the bullpen is distinctive and energetic. Diaz makes the trip to the mound as “Narco” from Blasterjaxx and Timmy Trumpet plays, and it’s perfect.
So this week we asked area athletes and coaches for their personal choice.
What would your entrance music be?
“Before games it is important to bring our team together and get hyped. It’s key to being successful during the game, because what you do before will be carried onto the court. One song that our team listens to and runs out to before games is ‘Coming in Hot’ by Andy Mineo. Not only is this a great song, but it also let’s our opponents know that we will indeed be ‘coming in hot.’ “
— Quincy High School libero Carley Owsley
“‘Here Comes the Boom’ from Nelly because anytime Mom watches my highlights she always says, ‘Here it comes, here it comes, BOOM!’ and usually claps really loud.”
— Quincy Notre Dame outside hitter Emma Hoing
“I listen to Energy by Drake before every game because the lyrics and the beat get me excited to play.”
— Connor Watson, a three-sport athlete at Macomb
“Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ by Kanye West. It has a meaning of don’t let anybody tell you something that’s going to bring you down. Stay in your own game and just play.”
— Brady Kindhart, a Quincy Notre Dame baseball player who recently committed to Maryville
“‘Jimmy Cooks’ by Drake, the clean version of course.”
— Hannibal senior volleyball player Kate Maune
“‘Bring ‘Em Out’ by T.I.”
— Hannibal senior volleyball player Nora Hark
“Such a tough question. Depends on my mood. Depends on the sport. But if I had to pick one … ‘Till I Collapse’ by Eminem.”
— Illini West volleyball coach Dakota Lafferty
“‘Remember the Name’ by Fort Minor.”
— Illini West volleyball player Madalyn Boyer
“‘Knife Talk’ by Drake.”
— Illini West volleyball player Josie Bryan
“‘Butterfly Effect’ by Travis Scott.”
— Illini West volleyball player Kaelyn Ferrill
“’Can’t stop’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers. This would be my walk out song because the beginning of the song just feels like it is building up towards something big in the song. That’s how I wanna feel when I am put in the game. I want everybody to know I am here.”
— Brennan Tomhave, a three-sport athlete at Pittsfield
“I would run out to Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ On A Prayer.’ Not only is it a great song, but I feel like our family has has made a huge commitment to Palmyra, and we currently are doing just what the song says, ‘working hard and living on the prayers of being successful for not only us, but the entire Palmyra community.’ I would also hope that they would bring me out on a wire like the singers in the video.”
— Palmyra Superintendent Jason Harper
