MONROE CITY, Mo. — The 100th Monroe City Tournament produced a pair of epic finishes.
First, the South Shelby girls basketball team withstood a game-tying, buzzer-beating shot by Palmyra’s Sydney Compton at the end of regulation to pull out a 58-57 victory in overtime. Then the Monroe City boys outlasted Palmyra 51-47 in overtime to win its own tournament.
