HANNIBAL, Mo. — The North Central Missouri Conference doubleheader the Hannibal boys and girls basketball teams played Thursday night at Korf Gym proved to be a challenge.

Mexico, which is receiving votes in the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Class 4 state poll, raced to a 74-40 victory in the boys game. Ben Richards led the Pirates with 13 points.

In the girls game, Hannibal bolted to an early lead but couldn’t keep Mexico at arm’s length as the Bulldogs rebounded for a 66-57 victory. Malia Stolte led the Pirates with 19 points, while Mariah Mayfield added 17.
