Panthers, Cardinals set up showdown for Class 3 district championship

PALMYRA, Mo. — The state-ranked Palmyra boys basketball team didn’t waste any time living up to the No. 1 district seed.

Hudson Bock buried five 3-pointers in the first quarter Thursday night as the Panthers rolled to a 58-25 victory over Clark County in the Class 3 District 6 semifinals.

Palmyra (25-1) will face third-seeded South Shelby (16-12) in the district championship at 1 p.m. Saturday. The Cardinals advanced with a 49-45 victory over second-seeded Monroe City in Thursdays other semifinal.

Bock made his sixth 3-pointer in the third quarter to finish with a game-high 19 points, but by then, the damage had been done. Palmyra outscored Clark County 22-8 in the first quarter and 25-9 in the second half overall.

Bear Bock added seven points and Ryan McKinney had six for the Panthers.

In the second semifinal, the Cardinals went 10 of 14 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to stave off Monroe City. Pryce Eagan led South Shelby with 14 points, while Preston Elsen added 10 points.
