Missouri state golf: Three South Shelby golfers earn all-state honors

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The trio of South Shelby boys golfers playing in the Class 2 state tournament made the most of their final round.

All three have all-state honors to show for it.

Jaaron Durbin and PJ Schmidt each leapfrogged more than a handful of golfers Tuesday at Rivercut Golf Course — Durbin climbed nine spots and Schmidt 10 — to both finish in the top 12, while Casen Glover held onto a spot in the top five.

Glover finished with a second-round 86 and posted two-day total of 160 to finish fifth individually, while Durbin shot a 79 to card a 164 and finish eighth. Schmidt posted an 80 to get to 167 overall and tie for 12th.

Palmyra’s Jonas Janes finished tied for 28th at 175 and the Panthers’ Skeeter Kroeger was 57th with a 187. Highland’s Payton Miller improved by 10 strokes and finished at 206.

Canton’s Biggerstaff finishes third

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Trevor Biggerstaff shot the second lowest score in the second round of the Class 1 boys golf state championships Tuesday, carding a 2-over 74 to climb to a third-place finish at 154 overall.

Biggerstaff opened with birdies on two of his first four holes and made the turn at the Country Club of Missouri at even-par 36. He was steady on the back nine, shooting a 2-over 38.

Ash Grove’s Asher Rust won the individual title at 149, while Sacred Heart’s Luke Jenkins finished second at 152 after posting the lowest score of the day at even-par 72.

Canton’s Avery Uhlmeyer finished tied for 47th at 188.

Pirates’ Locke reaches top 30

SEDALIA, Mo. — Hannibal freshman Kyle Locke posted his second round of 7-over 77 on Tuesday to finish tied for 27th at the Class 4 boys golf state championships at Sedalia Country Club. Locke finished at 154 overall.

Rolla’s Jonathan Jordan won the individual title at even-par 140.

Hannibal junior Quinn Thomas improved by seven strokes, shooting a 7-over 77 in the second round to climb to a tie for 46th.
