Drew Mallett’s final stat line in the Highland football team’s 24-20 victory over Palmyra last Friday night was complete — 16-of-25 passing for 266 yards and three touchdowns. Yet, it was a completion that didn’t wind up in the end zone that might have been his best pass of the night.

Trailing 20-18 after Panthers backup quarterback Adam Goodwin plunged into the end zone on 1-yard run, the Cougars faced fourth down when Mallett connected with Cameron Bringer with a pass over the top of the Palmyra defense down the right sideline.

The 32-yard completion gave the Cougars a first down and led to Robert Goehl’s 1-yard touchdown run with two minutes remaining in regulation that gave Highland the victory.

The Mallett-to-Bringer conversion is this week’s Liquor Booth Shot of the Game.
