Highland, Canton send three golfers apiece to Class 1 girls state tournament
MOBERLY, Mo. — The Highland and Canton girls golf teams will be sending three golfers each to the state tournament following strong showings Thursday at the Class 1 District 3 tournament at Heritage Hills Golf Course.
Each team placed three golfers among the top 25 individuals.
They will tee it up at the Class 1 state tournament Oct. 16-17 at Sedalia Country Club.
Highland’s Morgan Crist finished second individually, posting a 90. South Harrison’s Abrielle Owens won individual medalist honors with an 84. Canton’s Hannah Taylor finished tied for third with a 92.
Also advancing for Highland were Josie Murphy with a 101 and Ali Reed with a 106. Canton’s Sonoma Schmitz shot a 107 and Sierra Schmitz shot a 109 to advance. Monroe City’s Ava Potterfield shot a 111 and lost a playoff for the final individual spot.
