HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Don Crane Memorial Huck Finn Open disc golf tournament will start at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4 at the Don Crane Disc Golf Course in Hannibal’s Huckleberry Park.

Registration is available at www.discgolfscene.com or beginning at 8 a.m. on the day of the tournament. Entry fee is $30-$50 depending on the division, with 100 percent payout, plus additional cash for prizes.

Disc golf is a variant of ball golf but with special frisbees or flying discs. However, instead of hitting a ball off a tee and aiming at getting it down a hole in as few strokes as possible, disc golf involves throwing a disc from the tee and hitting an above-ground target in as few throws as you can.

Crane, who designed the disc golf course at Huckleberry Park, died in 2016. Crane voluntarily organized, facilitated and implemented disc golf tournaments at the Hannibal disc golf course. The disc golf course at Huckleberry Park opened in 2006 and was expanded in 2021.

The tournament is sponsored by Hannibal Parks and Recreation and Excitement Disc Golf with John Shaw of Excitement Disc Golf as the tournament organizer.
