Area Distributors Area Player of the Week: Palmyra’s Maura and Molly Gottman
PALMYRA, Mo. — A year ago, Maura Gottman earned a spot and eventually a fifth-place medal at the Class 1 girls state tennis tournament, teaming with Katy Rindom as Palmyra’s No. 1 doubles team.
This year, Gottman is headed back to the state tournament, and she’s taking her sister along for the ride.
Maura and Molly Gottman — a senior and a sophomore respectively — led the Panthers to their fourth consecutive district championship and then finished second in the individual sectional, earning a state tournament berth. They will compete in the Class 1 state tournament beginning Thursday at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo.
For their efforts, the Gottman sisters are this week’s Area Distributors Area Player of the Week.
