Area Distributors Area Player of the Week: Monroe City’s Audri Youngblood

MONROE CITY, Mo. — Audri Youngblood’s ability to keep the Monroe City softball team’s offense humming didn’t end with Saturday’s final game of the Monroe City Tournament at Lions Field.

It carried over into Clarence Cannon Conference play.

Youngblood went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs in Tuesday’s 8-2 victory over Clark County. This came on the heels of a 6-for-8 performance in the tournament, propelling the Panthers to the championship and earning Youngblood the Area Distributors Area Player of the Week honor.

Youngblood went 1 for 2 with a triple and a run scored in a 3-1 victory over Hannibal in the tournament opener. An 11-3 victory over Clark County followed with Youngblood going 2 for 2 with two runs scored and two RBIs. In the title game against Canton, Youngblood went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs as the Panthers won 6-4.

The sophomore right-hander also pitched in each game, splitting innings with left-hander Lucy Pratt. Youngblood allowed two earned runs over eight innings with 13 strikeouts.

Monroe City is 5-2 overall with Youngblood hitting a team-leading .429.
